I seriously need a new truck. Find me a full size 4x4 crew cab with at least a 6.5 box with under 80K miles, reasonably optioned, rust free and newer than 2005 for less than 12000 and I probably would buy it today. I just did an Autotrader search and within 300 miles there is 0 trucks that fits that description. The results I do get are Quad cab Dakotas and Full size repairables. That is it. I seriously need a new truck and I am getting annoyed with the insane prices they have now. Last time I bought a low mileage cream puff 10 year old truck I paid less than $10K, it had 30K miles and people said I got ripped off. This was 2008.

part of your problem is you give a shit about "under 80k miles".. Any truck that fits what you're looking for is a bigger POS that something 5 years newer with 180k miles for the same price. Look at condition, not miles..

I have owned high mileage vehicles in good shape and low mileage vehicles in good shape. I will take low mileage anyday. Less trips on the tow truck because of worn out parts.

If a high mile vehicle is truly in good shape generally wear items have been replaced already. I just bought an 03 2500hd with 230k. Drives great and has a few little issues but I expected it. Lots of newer parts on it though.

Basically everything that high mileage vehicles probably are going to need. I will take my chances with the low mileage cream puffs. Paid off for me big time over the years.

I guess you missed my point. Like I said if the vehicle with high miles has really been taken care of and actually is in good shape they usually have all or most of that shit replaced within the wear period. I'd trust a Buick with the 3100 motor at 150k over one with 90k because you damn sure know the intake gaskets have been replaced.

I get your point, however in my experience 150K+ vehicles nickel and dime you a hell of a lot more than a vehicle with sub 80K miles. Hell my lesabre that I bought with 70K has 160K right now. It has been very well maintained, and right now it needs, struts, alignment, motor mounts, tie rod ends. Never had to put a dime into this car really until it hit 150K now, every day something new needs to be replaced. Yes I get your point, a lot of stuff probably has been replaced, but a lot of stuff is going to be needing to be replaced as well. My Lesabre runs great however even after I finish these repairs I do not trust driving it more than a few hours away anymore and probably never will again. Two years ago I would have drove it from coast to coast. I would take a sub 80K vehicle that has been well maintained anyday of the week and twice on sunday over a high mileage vehicle that has also been well maintained.

I just transferred a title from an out of state purchase on a 2005 Corvette. Outside of sales tax the rest of the fees were about $84 with standard plates.
