    "Restore" engine additive?

My 94 exploder is burning a bit of oil ~1 quart every 4000 miles. Does that Restore engine additive do anything it advertises? ie. help compression, decrease oil consumption, etc?

your supposed to change your oil every 3000 and 1 quart is pretty normal

I do every 4000 on my exploder since it is just a beater and I don't drive it hard. Now, my cobra on the other hand, I change every 3000 or less.

regardless of your logic 1 quart every 4000 isn't bad at all.....

would have to agree on a 94 loss of a quart is nothing between oil changes. My 92 with a 351 did that and 01 with a 5.4 uses about a 1/2 quart between changes. My past experiences with those type of additives is all they seem to thickin up the oil to make it burn less. Restore and the likes are very thick in viscosity. It didn't hurt any but didn't really notice any changes.

No. Just use the next heavier grade if you want a surefire way to reduce consumption.

Was just gonna suggest something like that. Go to a heavier oil or just do like we did in the old days check the oil and add when needed not that complicated. Oh yeah and I 2nd save your money and buy nachos.

one other other thing I switched to the mobil clean 5000 and for some reason it doesn't burn off as fast maybe use a 1/4 to 1/2 quart at most between changes. But I still change it at 3000 miles.

I used regular Valvoline in my Mustang and had an oil analysis done at 3,000 miles on it and they said it looked great and said to go to 4k for the next one. that brings me to my next point, YOU ARE WRONG.

I wouldn't bother with any of the additives or anything like that. 1 quart every 4,000 miles isn't bad at all.
