    6.5% for autos in MN.

In case you dont have a calculator thats $1092. Plus your registration and misc fees.

Even if you were to get a deal on it and pay $5000, they will then just go off bluebook. I believe there is an appeal process you can do but never looked into it further. Hey, MN deserves their cut for your out of state transaction.

Have you shopped for low mileage older trucks lately? Seriously it is ridiculous how expensive they have gotten.

I have a calculator. I know there is normal sales tax but what are the other BS fees? lic, wheel age, filing, out of state tax (?), plates, etc.

Low mileage "loaded" duramax is still bringing good money.

The other fees are minor, the big one will be sales tax.

What is it, something like $10 filing fee, $7 for plates, and $35 for registration since its so old. Unless its a 1 ton then it will be more.

I bet its all on the dvs website.

Just another look at me thread.

Sales tax is 6.5% as stated, the other fees will be as follows assuming it's a 3/4 ton:

                    Public Safety Vehicle Fee: $3.50
                    Transfer tax: $10
                    Title Transfer fee: $7.25
                    Deputy Registrar fee: $10
                    Plate fee: $6
                    Registration fee: $35
Wheelage Tax: $10 (Depending on county, all metro counties have except Anoka)
                    Lien fee: $2 (If applicable)

Also, truck prices are absolutely insane the last 18 months or so.

I seriously need a new truck. Find me a full size 4x4 crew cab with at least a 6.5 box with under 80K miles, reasonably optioned, rust free and newer than 2005 for less than 12000 and I probably would buy it today. I just did an Autotrader search and within 300 miles there is 0 trucks that fits that description. The results I do get are Quad cab Dakotas and Full size repairables. That is it. I seriously need a new truck and I am getting annoyed with the insane prices they have now. Last time I bought a low mileage cream puff 10 year old truck I paid less than $10K, it had 30K miles and people said I got ripped off. This was 2008.

Gas prices have been relatively low, it seems that has a lot to do with truck prices.

To OP, if you're going to be in TX, I would transfer the title there with the seller in person. IIRC, you have a year to transfer that to MN and you only pay the taxes once. When I looked TX taxes are 6.25% or $42 less. Either way IMO, the cost is low compared to what you are paying while making sure you have a clean title in hand.
