    Front spring n00b help?

I have been installing an eibach pro kit on my fox. Currently doing front springs / struts. I have tried 2 different spring compressors, and have achieved a total of fail.
When I use the comp. tha goes inside the spring, (pulls down towards LCA) the spring will not meet the upper spring mount when I raise the control arm. It is out too far.
When I use a comp that mounts outside the spring, the comp. is in the way.

I have read that you don't need a comp. to put lowering springs into a fox. I have tried that too. There's NO WAY it will!! The LCA has to be so far down, that the bottom of the spring just pops out of the mount as I raise the LCA.
Can anyone advise me? I am pretty nervous around compressed springs, and a n00b.

    Thanks

Cliffs: Look at me fail? Easy steps to install front springs in a fox?

I am also fully prepared to see several "you're doing it wrong" and "fail" pics. I deserve them

when we just did mine we just used a jack, i am not endorsing this method and will further state that it scared the shit out of me but we survived with no incidents.

This is how I used to do it also, might get flamed by people but I dont care. We would place the jack under the contol arm and slowly jack it up while taking a pry bar to get the spring to sit in its groove. I doubt you will beable to do it yourself.

      Thought you went coilovers Philip?

I have always installed lowering springs on a Fox body by myself, not using a spring compressor and just using a jack.

I like to line it up by eye ball, pull the spring up to the upper mount with a ratchet strap through the middle of upper coil mount one side hooked in the middle of the spring on the side closest to the inside so when it pulls tight the spring bows to the inside a little. the other side of the strap hooked on to something solid I think I used the header off of the engine.

once its up against the upper mount. you can lift the control arm back up in to place with a jack and make adjustments to the spring with a big effen prybar.

                good luck

i used a pry bar and pushed the LCA past vertical to get them out and putting them in i used a jack by the ball joint putting the spring in the upper mount first then the LCA
