2001 navigator, 140k, never had any problems until now. when idling, even after being warmed up, the rpms fluctuate. started doing this a few days ago, any ideas?

Intake leak, do the carb clean test. Also check the IAC.

Check rubber PCV elbow at the back of the intake. I have replaced a couple with the exact symptoms1988 5.0 Notchback
