The starter is controlled via the engine computer, and the signal to start is sent from the body computer. There are a couple of bulletins for body computer replacement, but they had trouble codes with them.

It sounds like it might only be a simple case of herpegonasyphilis with a touch of the clap though.

Sean, it is a 3800... why would an intake leak be so intermittent though, and run fine for weeks/months at a time? Same with coil packs.... I'd assume those might cause intermittent problems while driving as well.

Also, with either problem I'd assume the car would still crank. This doesn't crank or anything, you just turn the key, the lights shut off, and nothing.
I have a 2002 Impala with the 3.8L as well. I had the same problem happen to me only once in the entire time I owned it and I believe it was related to the PASS system.

When we got to my place, I already had a candle burning. It was by "Glade", which I think you pronounce like the singer Sade, because it is an exotic candle that smells just like real pine.

If you hit the key and there is nothing at all, sounds like a bad ground issue to me. Have you checked the battery cables and ground strap?

Don't touch any of my vehicles if that's what you think it is.
