I will try to have it at the TCS BBQ, then you guys can hear how bad it is lol.

You probably forget one or two of the needle bearings around the crank

A few part throttle blasts might seat the rings and have the noise go away...

I was taught to hold a car in a middle gear and then accelerate and then let then engine brake and slow you down. Do this several times. In theory to press the pistons both to accel side and decel side of the bore.

I just started my brand new 331. After what happened last year I pulled everything back a part and had a new block machined and assembled by the shop. The piston sidewall clearance is much tighter this time. It sounds like the sound is still there, but not nearly as bad. I'll try to tune it enough that I can attempt to seat the rings properly. Perhaps that will fix the sound.

This time I also completely redid the valve train geometry. The rockers are now shimmed and I have longer push rods. I have about .025 of preload and the roller is almost dead center on the valve stem. I'll let you know if I need a 2nd set of ears to help me out.

So the noise is still there for the most part. It goes away once the engine is good and warm. Could it just be piston noise until the forged pistons warm up?

Anyone else with a stroker SBF have this?

Yes. If that is what it is you need to welcome the mechanical sounds and enjoy it as it warms up. I have an old school 289 that is set up a little loose and I really take that sound for granted now.I also like the sound of mechanical lifters but tired of adjusting them. I must be getting old.
