    Primer'D

    Ok, i got my car sanded, cleaned, primered (first coat) today, and i was wondering if i should sand when its completely dry and apply another coat, or just let it be if its ok?

    Any advice?
    '87 Gt- (Black) Underdrive Pulleys, bbk long tubes, Weld Draglites (Big and Littles), 3:73 Gears, bbk o/r H-pipe, 2.5" Flowmaster 40s, Cobra Upper/Lower intake, pro 5.0 short throw, zoom stage 3 clutch and flywheel, No smog equip., Soon to have an Aluminum D/s

    '97 Explorer Sport - (Green) All Stock 4.0, Runs great (DD)

    did you read the directions? the second coat should be applied when paint is still tacky. now you have to wait 1-3 days to fully dry. pm orange 88 he is a body guy

      Yes, but im not going to be home for a day or 2, thats why im asking... if it looks good, do i even need a second coat?

        2nd coat give you the ability to sand/buff out future imperfections.

          +1. With one coat there is a good chance of sanding right through to whatever is underneath. Wait and do another coat

            Isnt the second coat supposed to be High Build? not that i have a clue what the fuck i am talking about but i thought i remembered hearing that in a drunken stuppor one night.

              At our shop we usually do 2-3 good coats of primer, let it completely cure and apply a guide coat. guide coats are usually black in color, then as you block out the primer the guide coat will show you all the imperfections in the body such as low spots and deep scratches. repeat process until all low spots and imperfections are taken care of.

                  You can kind of use what you have on there as a Guide coat .... Block it all out with 320 & it will reveal your highs & lows........


                  You can pay attention to them areas with fillers & such.... then proceed to spray on another 2 or 3 coats of primer afterwards ...... Block it out once more with 400 & you should have a nice & smooth surface to work with ............
                  351W into Fox needed:

                  7qt oil pan , Billet Dizzy/Ignition , 1 7/8'' headers for TFS R heads , adjustable Tubular rear suspension & parts , Roll cage , 8+ gallon fuel cel / lines, ect..

                  TFS R heads off of 420ci engine
