There is a lot of great heads out today. What intake are you running, cam, long tube headers, ect... Power is in the matched package, not one part. Is this a DD or drag only car? With "heavy spray" the cam is must fit the heads ext flow.
Good wedge heads: Dart, Canfield, Brodix, AFRs Trickflows are all good IMO. Why not port the TFS heads that you have?

BTW is your block stock or aftermarket? Ahy of the heads I listed will make more power than the block will handle.
    Don't ask, it's a midlife crises thing.

From what I've heard the AFR's are the best out of the box. A few people I've talked to said that on a twisted wedge head some of the valves don't seal on the seats out of the box and they need a valve job.

If a guy is going to buy a set and bolt them on I'd still stick with the AFR's, but there are much better heads out there. I had mine CNC'd and upgraded all the hardware including the valves. Nick

Do any of the ford aftermarket castings change the valve angle? If so to what angle?

If you could get them to fix (you can't) they might be a bit big for a 347.

I have alway been one to look for power in cheep packages.... so take what I say with salt....and more then a grain

since I was cheep and didnt want to spend serious money on heads and I had my port matched e7's apart to fix the valve seals that fell off.....

I did the raised port porting and bought high port long tubes as well as doing a bit of work inside the ports and installing stightly larger valves.... the gains were unbelievable. I still need to get to the shop for new numbers but I can say that the seat in pants feel from 4500-7000 is a healthy 60hp difference. I also changed other parts inside my engine when I was there... but if any thing that should have lowered my power.... and just moved my curve.

all I am saying is with time and patience even stock e7's can make good power.

as far as out of the box power I have heard very good things about tfs and afr...I have also never heard anyone complain about tfs, every person I have talked to has loved them and they are great to do port work on in the future I have however heard alot of complaints about afr.... there are a few board members that had the rocker studs fall out of the heads when racing that I can remember..... but even after that happend I dont recall any of them stating that they wouldnt run them again????

I would like to see what those edelbrock heads would do with some port work... I dont see alot of people playing with them but for the price you would think that they would sell like hot cakes.

it didnt blow the valve seals found there way into my oil pan. and seezed up my oil pump. the 306 had been sleaved and the block was pretty beefey looking so I thought I would throw a 347 kit at it.

I just stuck the cobra engine in it for that mustang sound.
