The one in it only lasted 11months, was put in by the dealer I bought it from so no warranty. Where have you had good luck with alternators?

Another vote here for NOT Napa. I bought one from them 2 summers ago and had it die 30 days later. Then this summer it shit the bed on me when I was in Fargo for a race weekend. Ended up buying one from AutoZone with a lifetime warranty and haven't had a problem with it since then.Originally posted by 92MNstanger View PostNot Napa. Went through three in one summer. I would put a napa alternator up against any of the manufacturers listed above. I'm not saying they are better but I'll guarantee they are just as good. They have a great remanufacture and assembly process. Everyone gets a bad one here or there, but I'll guarantee if you put three of the same parts on in one summer, regardless of what type of part it is, then there's DEFINITELY something else wrong. A BIG problem with electrical now adays is the quality of the electrical connection is very important. Bad electrical plugs cause lots of problems.
I could tell stories upon stories about replacement parts being "bad" but without wasting anyone's time, the Napa one will be just as good as anyone elses. If I thought there was a problem with them I wouldn't use them on my own stuff and my mustang has a Napa alternator on it.
Oh yeah, and if that SD has a plow on it PM me, our electrical rep. has a very good idea that we've started installing on plow trucks. I don't care how good of an alternator you put on a truck with a 10 Ft boss V-plow, it's not going to be able to handle back dragging out a corner for any length of time.
PS a&b makes some good stuff. They also have a location in St. Louis Park I believe. We buy some stuff from them from time to time and we also have them go through some stuff for us if we don't have one available. NickLast edited by Ford Fan; 12-03-2007, 01:28 PM.8.54 @ 159 mph on a 275 drag radial

My 5.4 03 F150 alt started making noise as soon as the temp dropped below 40*
Not sure if it is worth replacing or not. Have noticed drop offs in interior blower motor speed / surging from time to time. Not sure if its related.
Other than that, no electrical issues I have noticed.
I know there was an issue with the 03/04 cobras though resulting in lean conditions when the alternators would go on them... so I am a bit cautious.
Thoughts?

I have had the same luck with Bumper to bumper (oreilys) and checker ones also on my old 89 f150 one lasted 10 hours and the back bearing went out all 5 remans I put on that bitch went out with diffrent problems too so it wasnt the truck. On that I went to the junk yard and bought 3 used ones for little to nothing put them in the toolbox with the right tools and I never had one go after that. Never have heard anything bad about a napa starter I know several people running themOriginally posted by 92MNstanger View PostNot Napa. Went through three in one summer.
