I agree with everything said be LES.

and yes I have done it. I built a BBC before my last build of a 347 which should be my first and last SBF ever. I thought it would cost $5K and it ended up being $8K.

Well if you can build a 700hp BBC for $8000 send me your secret recipe, because it will be a POS budget build. I am building a 9.5 deck now and my heads will eat up 1/2 of that $8000 and I am Praying for 700hp na.

I could do it with a big block ford. Unfortunately I have sold most of it off

maybe you should buy some used yates from the race teams like my friend did. came with good titanium valves for under $2K. I am dead serious. He is almost done with his 440 windsor. Solid roller tunnel ram. will make 750 at the crank, with 2 standard flange prosystems HPs.

he also got one of them bad ass super light cranks too for a steal of a deal.

you are looking at new prices.

I got my ported windsor sr. lites from black pearl for $300. I have seen sets of ported BBC dart big chiefs go for $800.

Ok I will play your silly game. Heads with Valves USed $2000, valvetrain to support 800 lift solid roller cam and 8000 rpm , jessel shaft mount rockers another $1500 SO YES $3500. And show me Dyno numbers and receipts I will believe it.

Based on what I have read about the new boss block is ford cleaned up water passages and oiling there's more strength built into the block. They Ford racing claims it to be stronger than the original 302 boss blocks. That's about the biggest improvement is strength.

lol thats my bad... siamese bore means that the cylinder walls from inside touch each other. you may ask well why is this bad? well.... heat soak. cylinder distortion and loss of power. the dart doesnt use this siamese bore where as the boss block advertises a siamese bore.

Doesn't the Boss block have partially siamesed bores so that they get benefits without the disadvantages you are talking about? IIRC they aren't fully siamesed, there are coolant passages between the bores.
