351w/302 Interchange Questions

I have a 351w that I am putting together... The block is 351w from a '85 f150, I am putting 302 gt40p heads on it, I know I need to have the mounting holes made bigger, and I assume run 302 headers. But how about for a cam, distributor, and intake? for the cam as far as I understand any non-roller 302 or 351w cam will work. if it's a 302 cam use 302 firing order. True? and if you can use a 302 cam will a 302 distributor work? Then for the intake I have no clue. any and all ideas will be appreciated! Thanks!

For sure, the distributor is too short, the 351w is taller than a 302. Also, the intake is wider due to the taller deck block.

You will probably want to find a set of headers that will fit the chassis of the vehicle (ie: specific 351w swap headers)

Its going into an 86 f150 with a 3" body lift and a 4" suspension lift so I've got a bit of real estate to work with for headers I should not have many clearance issues if any. But you say I will for sure need a 351 intake and distributor?

Yes, those are 351 specific. Cams swap.

Yes...a 351 is taller deck thus need for different intake, go sit a 302 intake on your 351 with heads on and you'll instantly realize. As well as distributor.

Mustang shorties will work for headers if you're looking to go cheap.

The blocks are the same with the 351 having a 1.3" taller deck.

The heads are fine, the exhaust will work but is restrictive even on a 302 so you may want to rethink them. You need a 351 dizzy, longer push rods and intake, cams are interchangeable using the right firing order. Are you going carb or FI?
