ok guys i have another question.
transmission?
turbohwagon is talking me into a c-4 with the small bellhousing and 9"(?) converter? this makes shifter placement a breeze. also no need for clutch linkage etc. if it fits, it sounds good. but the bellhousing is hard to find i guess.
toploader 4spd? i saw a ford fairmont at u-pull with a 2.3 and a 4spd. apparently its not the same as a v8 toploader. its very compact and looks like it'd easily fit. probably not too much aftermarket for these trans. late 70's turbo mustangs came with these (2.3 carbed versions)
t5? the world class t5 that comes on the turbo coupe and SVO would work, but the shifter will locate 6" too far back. guys have remedied this with a "Z" linkage using some kind of crappy heim joint setup. i can't imagine that would be easy or effective.
ranger t5? apparently this transmission has a shorter tailshaft and further forward shifter location. it would be 4" further forward. with a custom shifter, it could meet the stock location inside the car and work. however, i hear this transmission isn't going to hold up to my power goals.
what do you guys think?
jeremy also reminded me that with an auto trans, i can build boost off the line. this would be nice for drag racing.98 contour SVT

apparently the small bell is hard to find but i think it'd fit without much cutting/pounding. i might opt to run the engine a few inches forward in comparisons to what everyone else does. i just need to look into how much it will upset the balance of the car.
i kinda like the idea of foot braking the thing on boost and lettin it rip lol98 contour SVT

Shit, I even have a star shifter for it.
For $320, if you are interested, I will sell you:
- 3 70+ case fill C4 cores (2 complete and probably working, 1 in a tub)
- 1 small bell
- 1 large bell
- Reverse manual valve body
- Complete B&M Star Shifter
- 1 157 tooth 50z flexplate (dont know what you need for the 2.3, its for a 5.0 and small bell)
All you need is a convertor, some rebuild parts and a block plate and you are in business for $320. If you are serious, the is a fucking steal. What I am asking is what I payed, just want to break even since I now have the C4 that will hold against my turbo project.
LOL U MAD
