well i'm actually going to get everything together for the engine swap this winter and throw it in a car in the springtime. i plan on doing it in an opel GT which has been done before or something similar that is small like a 1st gen rx7. my uncle gave me an opel he owned for years but i never got around to doing anything with it, and someone drove by and wanted it. so my uncle sold it. sooo i'll be looking for another one.

Not that there is anything wrong with a 2.3t but why not a v8?

well its been done. but there are a lot of issues people don't realize when doing a v8. the car is small. in order to have a th400 or similar transmission in that car with a v8, you'd have to pound the firewall back quite a bit. you have to cut the crossmember out in order for the engine to sit in the engine bay height wise. people say this isn't a big deal because the engine mounts and engine keep the chassis stiff, but i dont like how imbalanced it makes the car. a 2.3T is actually about the same size and sits about the same as the stock 1.9L engine, but is capable of pretty big power. apparently guys are running in the 11's with 300hp pulling the wheels up (poor suspension setups). 300hp would be easy on the 2.3T motor and parts are readily availible. they also do this on stock or near-stock transmissions and small rear axles. i can basically junkyard everything i would need to do this. a toyota truck rear end with lsd and disc brakes, world class T5 (or ranger 2.3 trans, makes the shifter location closest to stock)

all you have to make is a transmission crossmember, and motor mounts. someone on the opel forums will build everything to order for 450$

an esslinger cam setup with all of the timing components, springs and valves, is around 400$

a tubular manifold setup for a t3 turbo and external wastegate is 350$

turbo, well i dunno what i'd run just yet.
the rest is gonna be forum-found used stuff.

this will be easier than a v8. i guess thats all i was trying to say. sorry for the rant, lol

yeah i think stinger performance is where i saw the tubular manifold i want. i've been reading a lot about these motors. people that don't run them seem to hate them and people that run them seem to love them. either way, there's a ton of aftermarket out there for these things and i plan on taking full advantage of that
