Also, nice weight on the Sawyer. Is that what they come in at off the shelf, or have you done a few things to it?

Well I ordered a set of HuDu's for the bike. Now I need to hurry up and figure out rim strips before these get here. First I wanted to strap it with ultra high-intensity relective tape (retro-reflective) but after looking at the price ($27), it seemed too expensive.

There use to be a 3.0" tire called the Nokian Gazzaloddi. Back when I started riding, some of the morc guys ran these for snow tires. A few even paired them with wider trials rims, much the same way Surly has done. The tires didn't clear most bike frames and there wasn't a lot of interest in the tire except the few who winter biked or downhilled. Nokian eventually stopped making them.

But that was a 26x3, right?

                29x3 looks fun as heck.

The Krampus is pretty much exactly what I'd get if my El Mar and Pug had inappropriate relations.

So I was out enjoying a nice ride the other day. I thought I should stop and take a pic of my bike.

I was having a bit of trouble with the sun and trying to get it just rite, but this dam deer kept asking me what I was doing.

So I said screw it. Here's a tire chain stay guard.

^ your chain stray has an std

Polished a few more parts. I did the seatpost and the direct mount for the front deraillure. These were very easy to polish and didn't take long. ALRIGHT! No more polishing. I'm done. Whew.

Was the seat post painted or anodized? What did you use to strip it?

Anodized. I used Easy Off heavy duty oven cleaner. The lye in it bubbles the ano right off in a matter of minutes.

What a week for new product unveilings. First Surly introduces the Krapus and two new fat tires - the 4.8 Surly Lou and 4.8 Surly Bud. Then Salsa drops a bomb shell... a 28.5lb fat bike called the Beargrease. The '13 Salsa line up of fat bikes is looking pretty sweet as well. Graydon, I think they took your El Mariachi and stretched the frame. lol https://p.twimg.com/Ayb5xGjCUAAs7Mq.jpg

The bikes dont impress me. The tires do. But I was really hoping to see the FS fat bike Salsa has been playing with.

Yeah, these new bikes are pretty exciting. My internet connection is so crappy right now I can't really even check things out yet.

Oh well, being out there and riding today makes up for it.

I did a mock build up of the bike tonight after doing one final pass with the buffer. I couldn't help but check out what this beast will look like once im done. Tomorrow I will drop the frame off with the metal finisher. Once I get it back, it all goes together. I've got everything for assembly.
