Am I going overboard? Sure. Is this for everyone? No. Do I enjoy working on my vehicles? Yep.
The day I bought this truck I knew I was going to do this, it was a night and day difference between my Dakota that I sold hours before and this Ram driving down the freeway. The road and windnoise was horrible. For the last several months I ended many phonecalls because I hated talking on the phone because it was hard to hear. Many may think they dont need to and that their stereo sounds good and is quiet inside. I am sure if they heard their same vehicle with a Dynamat treatment they would be very suprised.
Ive been waiting to do this because I knew it was going to be a big project but now with the year winding down I want to get it done before winter.
Would I expect anyone on here to go out and spend $2000 on Dynamat and $1500 on labor to have it installed on their vehicle? Nope. I am going the little extra, like filling spots with expanding foam and putting 3 layers on the doors because this is a truck I plan on keeping for a while and I want to see just how much outside noise I can get rid of in this big 4 door truck. Its going to be harder to treat than a standard cab dakota, so it takes more work, more money and more dynamat.
Ive seen people drop THOUSANDS of dollars on stereo equipment, install some of the best gear on a vehicle that has ZERO dynamat. That makes no sense and who cares if it sounds good when the car is parked... You could have spent the same amount on cheaper equipment and treated the vehicle with Dyanamat to have better sound.
I will be more than happy to demo the vehicle when I am done. I think anyone will be quite suprised. I know a few board members heard my last 2 dakotas, they know what to expect.
