Again, this is engineers/designers not thinking of the simplest fix to a common problem with these speed boats. These things aren't cheap and they don't think of something that probably would only add a grand to the cost of that six figure boat. Now tell me what's more expensive. A computer controlled safety wing or another boat? Dumbasses.

There, now you can just watch it here. lol

FWIW, there is a lot of surface area on the bottom of the boat to compete with, plus it is in ground effect.Originally posted by supercharged024 View PostWhy do they not have a wing on the front to stick the nose back down if the angle of the boat gets too nose high the on board computer could compensate and keep it down. I know it can't be that hard.
Seems like they could drag something in the water though.

I mean it can be in a neutral position creating basically no drag and when it notices the angle is too high it will change the angle of the spoiler/fin to push the nose back down. Like I said what's more expensive? Not to mention the hospital bill. You'd think the boat owner would be interested in that. He's out a shit ton of money.

Because they're a bunch of hillbillies. These things are comparable to big expensive mud trucks if that clears it up.Originally posted by supercharged024 View PostI mean it can be in a neutral position creating basically no drag and when it notices the angle is too high it will change the angle of the spoiler/fin to push the nose back down. Study up on how an airplane works. A small control surface on the leading edge would most likely rip off. Hence why most airplanes have their control surfaces on the trailing edge.Originally posted by supercharged024 View PostI mean it can be in a neutral position creating basically no drag and when it notices the angle is too high it will change the angle of the spoiler/fin to push the nose back down. True, but just like the flaps on nascar they are small but do the job of keep that spinning car from getting airborne. Also, like an airplane they could put some short wings closer to the front that could do the job and force the nose back down. An airplane relies on airlift/airflow design to stay in the air. The basic rule here is to stick the boat to the water.

Yes. And if a flap up front points downward to try and stop the boat from lifting it will actually cause more lift. Like I said before, read up. And if you think the engineers are dumb regarding these boats you should definitely school them.Originally posted by supercharged024 View PostTrue, but just like the flaps on nascar they are small but do the job of keep that spinning car from getting airborne. I'm like, "Wow, that thing looks like it took the landing pretty well. It might be okay." Then I saw the last video Scorpner posted. Nope!

Been 120 in a boat and that was scary.
