Anyone change phone companies and keep your old number?

How much of a pain is it to do it?

Its called 'local number portability' ,as long as your account is in good standing ,you can do it in a few days.

When I switched to T-Mobile from Unicel (bought out by Verizon) and kept my number it was actually a big pain in the ass. Unicel would not release it for whatever reason, when I called to ask them what the hold up was, I was actually bitched at for switching to the point where I hung up on the "Customer Service" rep and called T-Mobile. They took care of it but I was having a lot of issues.

I suppose, a TCS baller like yourself will be able to handle the International charges

Super easy, my whole family switched from Sprint to AT&T. Took one day to process. At&T gave us a temp number so we had our new phones and old phones and then it just switched over at some point the next day.

I'm guessing this was before 2006 when the LNP act took effect?

And FYI, always deal with the company that you're porting to, not from

Yes it was probably '05. I believe T-Mobile asked me to have "Unicel" do something, I was bitched at, called T-Mobile back, they took care of it.
