I didn't think too much of this when it happened last week but I received a disconnect notice today in the mail for $192.64
I made my Xcel payment on the 15th on the internet at mycheckfree.com like I always do for $192.64, the bill was do on the 17th.
On Thursday last week I get a call on my cell phone from a woman at Xcel energy saying that my payment of $192.64 was past due and that I had to make a payment or payment arrangements right away or they would place me on disconnect.
First I ask her if she was seriously calling me 1 day after the payment was due for payment. She fed me this line of how Xcel is getting tougher on past due balances blah blah. I stopped her to tell her that it i 1 day after it was due. So I get on my computer to find that mycheckfree does not have any confirmation numbers or anything.
So I opted to just make another payment over the phone so that I wouldn't have to deal with any disconnect bullshit (note that she pretty much thought I made up paying the bill online)
So now $192.64 was deducted from my checking account from the over the phone payment and $192.64 was deducted from my checking account from the online payment.
Yesterday I finally get my refund back from the online payment I made, so I basically fronted Xcel $200 for 5 days.
I open up my mailbox today and there was a disconnect notice for a past due balance of $192.64... Long phone call later involving me bitching ALOT ended in a very apologetic representative claiming that their accounts don't get updated in time so these notices still get mailed out.
Are these clowns fucking serious? This much hassle for a bill that was paid on time but showed unpaid 1 day past the due date?
