That's why I like my my baby eagle pull gun flick thumb up and ready to rock and roll. When safety is on trigger has no resistance. It's double single action so the only big pull on the trigger is the first. everything else is hair trigger. As far as the penetration issue any bullet will go through a person. Like back in the 80's and early 90's cops weren't allowed to carry bigger than 9mm or .38 because the fear was the would shoot someone and if the round went through the suspect it could kill the person behind them.

Was this a newer one, or an original?
I believe the co's that are remaking 1911's addressed the issue.:geeza: -Member of WCR Inc.

I am torn between a baby, a bersa mini firestorm 45, or a taurus millenium 45.Originally posted by 70mustangpauly View PostThat's why I like my my baby eagle pull gun flick thumb up and ready to rock and roll. Really, the taurus isn't an option, but I like the hammerless feature for carrying. I would like to have a baby in 45 or the bersa 45.:geeza: -Member of WCR Inc.

As for me, I grew up w/ guns with safeties. I will NEVER own a glock or XD. (or any other gun w/o a safety switch.) Personal choice.
Since you've never owned a pistol before, I recommend you think about it.

I would recommend the opposite. Seasoned cops and gun owners have shot themselves with every kind of gun they carry. It has nothing to do with having a manual safety. Actually I think not having a manual safety can be safer. I know of "seasoned cops" who have been on swat teams and spent hundreds of hours training with their guns. When the time comes in the heat of the moment, these highly trained individuals have pulled the trigger while forgetting to disengage the safety. Under high stress, people tend to forget things and lose some fine motor skills.
For someone completely new to guns, I would say stick with simple. I like to teach people that when they pull the trigger, the gun goes boom. Your finger should not touch the trigger until you are wanting to destroy whatever is at the other end of the barrel. Your best safety is between your ears.
All that being said, XDs are now being made with manual safeties.

I own a standard XD9 and I love it, no jams with over 1200 rounds through it and very accurate, alot of good safety features too. Another gun I would recommend taking a look at for the same price is the FNP-9 I have the FNP-40 and I really like it. The FNP is a DA/SA configuration which I feel makes it slightly safer to carry since it does not need to be cocked like the SD does. Although I still wouldn't hesitate to carry the XD.
And I also went with a 9 because the ammo is much cheaper, and I stand by it. Even the 40 ammo is 5 bucks more per 50 rounds.Last edited by OrangeCrush 86; 02-03-2008, 12:01 AM.

Even with a 9mm, if you use personal defense ammo, and not regular range ammo, I very much doubt you would get too much penetration.Originally posted by SmithEvo View Post.45acp isn't much more expensive (if any, depending on what quality you want)
My problem with a 9mm C&C is the penetration factor. They have a habit of going right through a person. Low velocity expanding lead will take care of most of that problem, but it still can be an issue.

True. It comes down to preference and what you are used to. I will be looking at the XD with a safety for sure.Originally posted by astral View PostI would recommend the opposite.
