            Yeah but when they're bragging about the Toyota being a true work truck they shouldn't show all the Fords behind the scenes. Just kinda foolish on their part.

              Right, except there are several flaws with your theory.

              #1 I count at least two trucks that were old enough to have been purchased before toyota even sold pickups.

              #2 I count several *work trucks*. And i hate to break it to you, that was almost assuredly filmed BEFORE that truck went on sale, again meaning even if the guys in that video would consider purchasing a toyota, they couldn't because they bought their current truck BEFORE toyota had anything on the market.

              And finally, I can pretty much guarantee none of the guys in those films are toyota employee's, they're probably all contractors. Why would you expect them to be driving toyota's?

                    So you count at least 2 american trucks built before 1964? (when Toyota first started selling trucks in America)

                      You would think that if this Toyota truck was such a great piece, that the people working with it first hand (the contractors) would have one.. And you can quarentee that that day was not the first time they had seen it either.

                        #1 toyota sold pickups since 1979;

                        #2 I think part of his point is that the behind the scenes showed the ford trucks. if toyota was smart, they would have edited those out...

                        and finally - how many toyota pickups do you see running around with plows around here, or with company logos on the side? the whole point is that they're just not the work truck of choice yet.

                            i stand corrected... i thought the hilux was the first one sold in the US, starting in 79... either way, there wasn't anything older than either 79 or 64 in that vid... heh.

                              I agree.

                              Are they great every day driver trucks. Probably, I never drove one, but I would have to imagine that they are a nicer ride than a ford superduty. Probably a lil nicer interior too. And they will serve the purpose of pulling a boat or a big trip to Home Depot on occation quite well.

                              But I dont see them surviving the riggors of pulling a bob-cat around every day, or hanging a plow on the front of one and running it 24/7 plowing lots. I dont see the possibility of them having stingers put on them and functioning as tow vehicles. ect ect ect.

                              They are what they are. A great 4wd car with a big open air trunk that can haul some heavy loads. I dont think we will see them replacing anyones fleet of work vehicles..........Just yet at least. I hate to say it, but GM, Ford, and Dodge, better step up the notch of thier 3/4 and 1 ton trucks to keep the market on work vehicles, because if Toyota sets thier sights on that truck market like they have on the 1/2ton market, they may make somthing pretty damn impressive....
