Last night I had a softball game. After every softball game the team goes to the bar that sponsors us for a couple beers. My wife was finally able to make it to a game and my sister plays on the team so both of them were with me.
We decided to leave the bar to go get something to eat. Applebee's is so much better than bar food.
As we walked out there were three somalies and a white guy standing by the front door. Two of the somalians started looking my sister and my wife up and down in the most obvious way possible. I turned to them and said, "pick your eyes up."
One of them asked me what I said so I repeated, "Pick your eyes up. That's my sister and my wife you're undressing with your eyes and I don't appreciate it."
As far I was concerned that should have been the end of it. We continued to walk to my car and were about 100 feet away when I heard one of them mutter out some bullshit but I couldn't make out what they said. So I turned around and asked him what he said. He gave me the whole, "You heard me," crap.
I told him to come say whatever he has to say to my face, so the four of them start walking toward me, my wife and my sister. I told my sister to run to the back door of the bar and get a couple of the guys from our team. They were out there QUICK!
As soon as two of my teammates stepped out of the bar, the whole situation changed. The two that weren't saying anything convinced the two shit talkers to walk away and head into the bar. The other two came up to me apologizing for their friends and saying that it was the alcohol talking and that we were all cool and no one needed to get hurt blah blah blah.
The shitty thing is this, had one of them actually showed me any aggression I would've flattened him. Had anyone jumped in on it my two buddies would've crushed them. But we'd have gone to jail because in the eyes of the law I could have walked away.
My problem with that is this: if you simply walk away and tolerate the poor behavior of others in an effort to avoid confrontation you empower them and send them a message that their behavior is acceptable. If you put the dirty little bastards in their place, they'll think twice before acting that way ever again.
Why does our government and our society protect those people? Why are those people allowed to get away with bullshit for so long?
What would you have done in that situation?

They gotta get up and pull knives and push and spit and all that stuff...I like having friends that'll back you up and all, but sometimes I just sit and laugh.
