I am not racist by any means, But I really can't stand it when black people talk about the opression us "white folk" caused for the following reasons.

1. Yes slavery was a big business back then and we did have slaves. My family were slave owners and after their 7 years of service most of the slaves didn't want to leave the plantation. My family treated them very very well. But the fact remains that it was a business and still is today!!! (just not by us "white folk" here is the USA)

2. Yes discrimitnation was a issue... 40+ years ago! Well now with their affirmative action crap, a colored, less educated man/woman gets a job before me (assuming I have better qualifications) And they have the same right now that everyone else has and then some!

3. If anybody looks at the census, we (white people) are quickly becoming a minority! Does this mean we will get affirmative action and get to make claims like that chick??

4. If I hear another freaking colored person say anything about katrina or being oppressed in the past, I am gonna go postal! Seriously......
White folk were involoved in Katrina also, but they never mention that when they are bitching!

If anyone should be bitching, it should be the middle class single white male! Between taxes and crap, we get raped!

That is pretty tasteless of her to take everything that was given to her and turn right around and say something like that. I thought GTO's response was great and right in every aspect, far better than any respone I can muster up. It just goes to show you how ungratefull people are these days.

I believe that would be her e-mail. I typed her last name into the people search and 3 came up, one was male and the others first name was Sahra. I am guessing Fay is short for Faosatulai or whatever.

I dont think it would be bad at all to contact her if you have any issues with her article. The Reporter is known around campus for being really one sided and opinions are rarely taken seriously. I cant even remember the last time I wasted the time to bend over and pick one up out of the newspaper stand.

Hmm, Lets take a little gander into slavery.

The first slaves were believed to be the Nubians who were enslaved by the more lighter skinned (Arab) Egyptians approximately 7000 years ago. Every society in the history of man has deep roots in slavery. It has been a factor in the formation of any form of government up intil the late 1700s. The Greeks did it, the persians, the romans. We are not some small minority of super evil slave owners, we are not alone in this past. We have made amends for those times, as we have for a large portion of the mistakes our country has made. We changed our ways and have since enlightened ourselfs to understand that freedom is the best choice for all.

I have to call her out on the bullshit card though, using slavery as a justification for any form of anti-progressive thesis is complete non sense. When you couple the arguments of race to the slavery card like those who are seeking some sort of pay back, it becomes even more bullcrap. Of the few remaining societies that still have slavery, included on that list just so happens to be the non industrialized tribes of africa.

which is where america got the majority of its slaves. Slavery was even more profound in those tribes than in america during the period where we did take slaves. Big effin shocker though.
