Midway - I'm done

I don't know, I have been going to University Avenue for quite some time, pretty frequently a while ago, but for the past 4 years I have been going less and less. Every time I go, it sucks more and more. I don't "cruise the strip" because 1) I get tired of always being slightly paraniod about police, like they are going to pull me over just because I am driving a Mustang down University Avenue on a Saturday night 2) I am just not used to driving in traffic anymore!

Last year, I went to Uni about 3 times and that is it. The 2nd time, a friend's car would not start, and we had to jump it in the Arby's lot. A police car came by and told us we had to leave, and "get moving now". He said if we were not gone in 2 minutes, we were all getting tickets. This was shortly after Arby's closed.
The last time I was there, it was the same old shit, nice cars driving by, but heated arguments at Porkey's and just too many people walking around with attitudes. I drove 2 hours down and 2 hours back up, but only hung around there for about 30 minutes before I just said "this sucks! I am going back home".

I don't know, I think I am done. I have better things to do on weekend evenings. Anybody else like me that is kind of fed up with the "Midway" scene? It just does not seem fun to me anymore. I have never liked going in to the city in the first place, but that place has changed a lot.

I have not been there this year yet, and I guess I was looking forward to going, but reading some of the topics on this board already brings back to mind all the reasons I was reluctant to go much last summer.

Then again, I have not really "hung out" with TCStangs either, maybe it is more of a fun time with you guys, I don't know.

Porkys aint that bad dude, just come down and see for yourself. 80% of the regulars that post on here are always down there. It's just as much of a social event as a cruise spot now. Don't fear it man, just shaddup and get yer butt down there.

It's easy to rip it if you don't spend any time there, it's really a decent place to hang out when you know a few people.

How can you be fed up with it??? Why the dramatics, your sounding like the fbody guys now.

On another note:

The reason you read about the weird/bad things about Porkys is because most of the time it's kinda boring down there and the only few interesting things that happen get entire threads.

For the 5 hours you hang out there, maybe in 10 minuts of it is actually interesting and that's what gets posted because some dumbass does something stupid.

The other 4 hours and 50 minutes is just standing around and talking.

I can be fed up with it because I had a lot more fun around there like 5+ years ago, but lately it seems like there are more and more strange people around there.
But at the same time, I think maybe it is because I am not used to a lot of people anymore either. I get really paranoid and uneasy when sidewalks are full of people and stuff (not really used to the city anymore). I used to strike up conversations with people there all the time, but now if I walk up to someone and say hi, they might say hi back, but just walk away and talk to their friends or jump in their car (I am referring to random people here, not anyone from TCS).
Maybe I will give it another shot, weekend after next or something, but lately for some reason I have had a low tolerance for dumb shit happening at that place, and I have a feeling that there will be plenty of dumb shit happening on uni this summer, since it has been on the rise every year.
Maybe I will be totally wrong about this. I need to hang out with TCS and have a good time perhaps, and say screw everything else at Midway.

I love porkies. It is a good social gathering and I have alot of fun there. Of course there are dickheads, that keeps it entertaining. There are also MOSTLY alot of cool people there. Standing in the lot is tons of fun.

Sounds like you have a social anxioty disorder more than anything You should come back and find the TCStang guys and hang out w/ us. Were not hard to find down there, and most of us are pretty cool guys to hang with. IF not cool, entertaining at least

I should add that even the other night the stupid people were arguing, it was still a BLAST. LOTS and LOTS of good people, smart people, and alot of nice cars. I was there until 2AM just because of the good times.

Fast Mark's car smelled of coolant as he pulled in though.
It should be all better now. Has anyone felt the tires he has on that thing? They are softer than a babies bottom...

Just let me know when you are going to be down there, I will meet up with you, and I can show you all the people from TCStangs and MNMuscle. We can park across the street in the goodwill lot and skip to porkys in bliss of knowing a california burger is soooo close.
