Where is a good place to bank that is not Wells Fargo?

I want totally free and from some place that is not going to steal money from me every month like I just found Wells Fargo has been doing for quite some time.

they pushed some stupid way2save bs accounts on me a few years ago, I wasn't really interested in it and I zero'd out the accounts shortly after. There must be some fine print that you can't do that because I've been getting a $15 a month charge for as far back as my online statements can show. Otherwise I've been happy I've been a lifelong customer but this really ticks me off. I'll be going in there asap to get those accounts deleted and inform them I'll soon stop banking with them totally. pissed.

I have accounts at Wells Fargo, tcf and the Anoka county credit union. Wells Fargo is the only place that is a pain in the ass. They are always wanting to "upgrade" my accounts but every time they make a change there is some fee that is bullshit. You don't transfer enough money per month. Fixt. Well now you have a fee because you don't have direct deposit. Fixt. Now there is a fee because you don't have online banking set up. FUCK fixt. Oh you work at federal, we have special accounts for federal employees lets change to that.

Switch to a credit union. I still keep my wells fargo account so I can have my own money, but my wife and I do our main banking at the local credit union. I also keep my wells fargo because I love being able to deposit checks via my phone and not have to stop at an ATM. The one downfall of most credit unions is they don't have the technology and innovation the big banks have.

I have three accounts at CCCU. An account at Chase, Bank of America and Capital 360. None of these ive had problems with. CCCU I use primarily.

Same here, never had them get me for anything, I think we do have a Way2save account that MNStang mentioned, I think you had to have at least $100 or so in it. TCF seems to be the biggest crooks out there, I also love people who are like Credit Unions Fyeah! Only to bitch and moan when they can't find an ATM that they don't get bent over at

So serious question, what exactly is the upside to the credit union? We get much higher interest on our online savings accounts, all the tech and ATM infrastructure on wells for our day to day crap. I actually belong to Novation CU, but their loan rates have been much higher than everyone else, they run an across the board 2.5-3% on a used cars, I got quoted .5% from Wells and .8% from BMO Harris

I have experience dealing with a lot of banks and credit unions. I can tell you your best option hands down would be your local bank, Bank of Maple Plain. They use the wells Fargo ATM network so deposits and cash withdrawals are still convenient wherever you are. No "BS" fees, customer service is out of this world, and rates/terms are pretty fair. A friend of mine was shopping for a new Ducati, called Brad the manager, he said the money is in the account, buy what you want, just swing by Monday to take care of the paperwork. Just an example of the kind of relationship they like to have. If you go in, tell the person setting up your accounts (Janet) that I said hi.

Billy, that's something a quick google search can answer for you. The bottom line for me is CU's are non-profit and the main goal is to line the pockets of it's members instead of shareholders and executive's. I have been with WF since I was a teenager, but I chose to divest my banking and not have everything tied up in one place.
