I just saw a story on channel 4 WCCO discussing proposed tax increases for MN. According to the story, if Dayton's bill passes MN would have the highest rate of income tax in the U.S. Anyone else know anything about this?

The proposal would impose a top-tier tax rate on high earners of 10.95 percent, which would include single filers with taxable income above $85,000 or couples with taxable earnings above roughly $150,000. Dayton would add a 3 percent temporary surcharge on taxable incomes higher than $500,000. The resulting tax rate of 13.95 percent would be the highest income tax rate in the nation.

The thing this idiot governor and the idiot governors in the other states that have implemented the tax the rich mantra (New York & Maryland) don't realize is people don't work just so they can pay taxes. The revenues these states expected to generate fell FAR short of projections because people most affected simply move out of state or work harder to shelter their money from unfair taxation. The owner/founder of Paychex moved residency from New York to Florida to escape the extra $13,000 a day he would have been forced to pay in New York. A no brainer move for sure. The same thing will happen here. Thankfully the legislature won't let this happen.
