Thanks the for the idea. I already did that and just received an email from them. They told me that no contractor has successfully sued a customer for a review, and as long as it is truthful, I have no worries.

I have just reported him to the BBB, and told him so, and that I will not remove the review. I also told him if I do not receive the money that I will be taking this to small claims court.

This is really not worth it all, but he has been threatening me for three weeks, and trying to intimidate me. I have backed down to just get my money back, but it is starting to look like he never intended to do it, so now I will see if he truly wants to take the long way down this path.

I also told him that if he wants to go ahead with the baseless defamation suit, to have his lawyer contact me with his info, and I will forward it to the attorney that I choose, will counter sue for all cost legal and otherwise, and see if any of the local media would be interested in a story about a contractor suing a customer over an angies list review.

BBB is a waste of time, call the attorney general, just take him to court. He's just hoping you go away.

keep that updated, I think he will see that he is going down a path that is not in his best interest. The more that gets out about this, the worse he will look. The shitty part is when it is all over, he will change the name of his company and start off clean. That is how construction is run for 1 man shops. 2 name changes and all liability goes out the window as far as sue-ability goes. Blame the state for that rule
