    looking for EDIS parts

    from a ~'97 Explorer 5.0.

I want to convert to dual coils and wasted spark to get rid of the TFI and I dont want to modify the A9L harness. It would ruin the harness, best to keep it intact for future use or sale.

    Things I am looking for:

    - Crank trigger timing cover (Explorer 5.0) with VR attached if possible.
    - Front 50oz balancer with 36-1 tooth wheel (Explorer 5.0)
    - Complete EDIS harness with coil packs, coil bracket and plug wires. (Explorer 5.0)
    - 5.0 Camshaft position sensor (Explorer 5.0)

I dont need them right now, I am just wondering if anyone hasn't thrown them away yet. I know a few folks have been using exploder motors in 5.0 swaps lately, just looking.

I bought my 96 explorer gt40p motor for $200 after hearing it run at the junkyard in my town. If you have a fox timing cover I'll probably trade you for my timing cover.

That would require me taking it off, and I wont do that till I have all the EDIS parts to convert it.

Fox and explorer timing covers and balancers do not swap. Explorer timing covers are the same used on SN 95 mustangs. These have the extra short water pumps and are set into the timing cover. Dave you are going to have to rig up your own setup for the crank trigger or swap all your accessories to a sn95 setup.

Next option is to skip the EDIS modual route and drive the coils directly. Then you set what the crank trigger is before or after TDC. Then you take a swag at the placement of the sensor, set the base timing in MS to something like 10* and then with an adjustable timing light you figure out how far off you are. Then add this value to the offset in the MS software and you are off running.

Rigging shouldn't be an issue, I am sure I can figure out how to keep the original accessories. I could drive the coils and use the VR input separate but I would prefer to use the EDIS if I can.

Looks like you are right, I cant use the explorer cover because the "d"s wont match a 5.0 mustang pump. I wonder if I can get that trigger wheel on the stock mustang balancer, mounting the VR should be an issue, I can make a bracket for the open bolt hole.

why don't you get some LS2 or Lq9 coils, and rig up a crank sensor setup. Then you have something that will actually support some power down the road

Actually, I gave thought to a LS2 setup, those coils are very nice.
