This thread isn't about Mark, it's about YOU. YOU were the one inquiring/skirting the safety issues.
And in answering 'how do you know I don't have, etc, etc". MOOG point.

Why ask if you don't want answers/criticism.

Make it safe, for EVERYONE's sake. Nuff said.

And for what it's worth, I've had PLENTY of cars that I drove TO and FRO the strip without them all being purty trailer queens that ran under 12 seconds that WERE safe as per NHRA and wisconsin state rules.

    Better safe then dead.
You can sleep in your race car, but you can't race your house!

      Who are you talking to...me?

I didn't ask the question about inquiring/skirting the safety issues....? Better get your stuff straight and find the first post in this thread before you go off on me.

I am not all mad about this thread, just everyone has a choice to break the rules or follow them. Its a everyday choice. Some people drive 55 in a 55 zone some go 60. Its just another choice in life you may get caught, you may not. This is the point I am trying make and am sure each one of you go 55 since your all so safe.

The only thing I need to run under 11.5 yet is a bar and harness this is going in around July I have a friend that does all my welding just started working doing the fab work at racecraft. www.racecraft.com he is putting one in soon as soon as he get some items worked on a tight custom bar. Since I don't plan to race on the track until Sept. YOUR ALL safe!

Since this thread seems to be about me I am running way more safety equimpment then I need to off the bottle which the best I have ran so far is a 11.9. I am good with SFI up to 9.99 with everything except a trans sheild which I am checking into with CSR since I need a non bolt bell housing on a 4L60 case. I can run a high ten as I found out last weekend. I race and learn, the same way we ALL do.

So if you see me at the track and feel my car is unsafe feel free to chew my ass face to face.. It's easy to do it on a board...

no one is bitching at just one person....We all need to be safe.....I for one know it sucks to spend money on safety stuff instead of parts.....See you all at the barbeque or the Ford show on Sun.....

I've told him several times, even told him my 60+ year old mom has no problem climbing into her car. He looks pretty gray up top though, maybe he doesn't think he has much time left anyways It would suck if the only place you can run your car was on 280 and cfr!

speedo, you made it sound like you were skirting the safety issues in your post so I can see why you were pointed out. It does say in your post as well that you had to get on the brakes pretty hard at only 124 mph. That track has a large shutdown in comparison to other tracks in the area so that's another reason you're drawing attention.

As far as your analogy about the speed limit, well, that's not even a close comparison. You're comparing cars with 800-1000 hp trying to go as fast as they can from a stop, probably getting loose around the 1000 ft mark at 130+ mph, to driving a couple miles over the speed limit. It's not the same.

Accidents do happen at the track, that's not the issue. But just keep in mind the guy in the other lane is relying on YOU to keep YOURSELF and HIM/HER safe out there because anything that happens in your lane, well, can make something big happen in theirs. Nick

Only 124? Sounds like you have shut down a car much faster there I mean if you have that is cool but if you haven't your just guessing. Stopping at 112 and 124 there is a difference I have done both at that track and others. I just said I had to brake pretty hard as in compared to stopping on the street not that I had any problems stopping. I still have ABS which is another safety item you will not find on 98% of drag cars so if there was a problem in the other lane I can still get on the brakes and steer the car out of the way, hey that makes the other driver safe right?

Out of respect your right about needing saftey gear but it could happen when I drive it 80 miles round trip on the way to work too.

People have suggested it plenty of times...doesn't mean he listens. And look now, he can't even get into some tracks because of it. (Unles something changed recently?)

Fuck, I went 10.8 @ 123 mph at BIR without gettin warned... (until a guy came over and said they were going to warn me at the line, so I left)

You guys are bitching about safety? Why dont you go bitch at the guys that race on the street every Firday/Saturday night leaving Porky's??... Although speedo and I have hit the 10's here recently with no cage, at least we are at the fuckin track!

I was just wondering if they were still letting people get away with what they used to. If they choose to crack down thats fine with me, just curious.

I understand the reason for safety equipment and rules, however, I will never tear apart my car and hack it up to have said equipment. Is not a race car, it sees the track a few times a year so I can see where it's at and achieve personal goals. Otherwise, it's just a street car.

I am all for saftey equiptment, the more we have the safer and more reliable the cars are the more runs we get!

In retrospect, Ive road raced at BIR w no saftey equiptment other than factory and have done over 155 in the staight, so its not about the speed as much. IMHO. You ask for advise take your medicine.
