    2011 BIR School Season

The 2011 schedule is posted for the BIR school:

A big change to the school this year, we are adding run groups to the school.

The higher level run group also has a pass-anywhere rule. This should free up the track quite a bit. This group is not a racing group - all passes must be a "Contract Pass" and is meant to allow a faster car to pass a slower car more easliy. Re-passing is not alllowed to prevent this group from getting into a racing mode (not allowed by event insurance).

I hope this is well received by frequent track participants.

    Tom,

Does the BIR performance school realize I can race for an entire weekend on the entry fee they want for one day? Are they getting the car counts they want? Seriously, MAM is just $125 per day. Not diggin just asking.
My couch pulls out but I don't.

You guys are pricing yourselves out of the market. there are much better priced per day opportunities at Road America or Audubon much less MAM.

It is kind of an apples to oranges comparison. For just a lapping day or racing there are better prices around. If you want a school, close to home where you can have an instructor (all day if you need) to show you the ropes it is a good deal.

Travelling to the more distant tracks isn't cheap (gas, hotel etc). As far as pricing themselves out of the market - I don't think so. The last classes last year were oversubscribed (more than 100 people). To that end Gary is setting up a limit to class sizes this year.

That Groupon deal was pretty popular last fall!

I like the big track at BIR and have always been impressed by the instructors. They usually offer a lot of track time for the money, too.

How about offering a no instructor option for less $ ?

You were only oversubscribed because the price was low (Groupan).

I'm guessing BIR rental rates for clubs went up too...since the club prices are up as well ?

Thats really cheap. I paid 4300.00 for Bondurant plus hotel and travel. Went back the following year and paid 6k for 3 day advanced school.

So you really don't want to know the BIR SCCA-Accredited 3 day racing school is less than $900 (with you own car).

I'll pass the no instructor idea to Gary. I know this has been talked about before. Actually signing up through Track-Time kinda get you into this mode.

Get that CMC racecar done and come out to utilize that 10k+ investment.
