How to cut a hole, in a hood.

I was wondering how people with "Utility Holes" in their hood went about cutting the holes out. Specifically how did you make it look good, and cut close to the items that needed to stick out of the hood?

Examples: O88's charge pipe through the hood, The turbo-triumph hood.

We have a long time to decide how to cut up the hood on this white GT hatch.

I would start by maybe attaching clay or something to the hood and lowering it to see where contact is made, then start there, cutting just a little at a time.
once the hole it right, maybe smooth it out and paint, of if not painting use some sort of trim around the cut edge to help clean up the look.

another thing to do is once you have the hole cut, trace out a template of the hole on cardboard or the like and and transfer the shape to a nice sheet of aluminum and trim the under side to help make it more rigid now that the hole is there
