Ok my fiance' is telling me in our 98 kia sportage at 70mph in 5th gear the can droped back a few gears on its own and started redlining at 8k for 3 seconds and then went back to normal. she says it has been doing this occasionally with her but i havent seen it do it yet. i know our throw out bearing is bad but i cannot think of how this could possibly happen. it is boggling my mind.. i cannot think of what would cause a 5 speed to change gears on its own for a couple of seconds and then change back....any ideas?
Baffled..

It's made by Kia. What do you expect?

what was rolling through my head was maybe the coutershaft was screwed up like in my t5 causing the gears to be wacky, but if the consensous is clutch i'll have to see what that would cost me...fucking kia is expensive for parts! but we couldn't turn down the free car from mom

Free Kia? That's about what they're worth.

KIA= Killed in action. For the price you get what you pay for with those unfortunately.Originally posted by HackWhy spend all that money just to get a worn out copy of a small block Ford? It's going to be in the junk yard for a reason. I understand you have a religion called LS motors and you have faith that the LS motors break the laws of physics and work better and cost less than anything else ever built. Plus they never wear out.
I disagree.
