    Using too much anti-freeze

    Hello,
I know this is not a good sign, but I am using a good amount of antifreeze just driving around in my 95 v6 mustang. It does not seem to be spitting out or leaking anywhere, but I need too refill it every week. My dad says its probably the case where I have a warped or cracked head. If this is the case I believe my options are limited to rebuilding, selling, or dropping a newer motor into the car. I love the car and would not like to sell if I don't have to. Any ideas, other than a warped or cracked head, that could could be drinking the anti-freeze? Also, any suggestions to what I should do with it once I have found the exact problem? Any help is much appreciated, thanks.

Dear Government, eventually the people with money will tell you to fuck off, and stop paying for those that don't work

It will cost you around $400-600 to fix your self.

It will need Intake and Head gaskets.
You will also need to have the heads decked/checked by a shop at they are prone to warping.

Is the front of the motor wet? Can you smell coolant when its hot. Is the coolant overflow connected, cracked or holding no coolant? If one of these is present, you may just have a bad pump gasket or leaking rad. If not, move on to the for-mentioned issues.

Is it overheating? Could be a cracked head or may have a stuck t-stat.

White smoke, dripping exhaust? More than likely warped head or bad gasket.

It's going to be the head gasket. its common. Common to the point all the ford 3.8's suffer from it

Take it to a shop. Pay the diag fee and go from there.

I just want to know how you can tell someone how to fix their car
if you've never opened the hood?

Probably becasue there is a TSB and a recall for 94-96 3.8 mustangs and tauri fro head gaskets popping left and right. But, yeah, you are right, what the fuck does anybody here know

Plus they never wear out.

                      I disagree.

This thread is mostly about what to look for, not how to fix it.

Of course, you know everybody is wrong by not opening the hood yourself, amirite?

Just because their is a tsb dosent mean it applies. If you have a coolant
pressure tester or a combustion leak detector or have access to
them . These are the best tools to accuratly diagnose your problem.

Alright I'll try to answer a bunch of questions here. I don't have a leak, we just replaced a bunch of hoses and have been looking for a leak for a month now. Also, I don't smell that almond smell that you get from burnt/burning anti-freeze. I have noticed a lot of water coming out of my exhaust. It has not over heating. I will check to see if there is white smoke coming out of the exhaust at all.

Thanks for the help so far,
                            Luke
