    1997 Ford Explorer firing order

No it is not the same as a 5.0 HO out of a Mustang.

A couple of other people are dropping a 5.0 out of Explorer in their Mustangs, like me, and this is the firing order they should be using

    1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8

The 5.0's out of the Explorer use the same 13726548 firing order as the Mustang.

I don't get what this thread is trying to say

No its not. I posted earlier because I was using the Mustang firing order and getting no where. I wanted to know if there was a different firing order for truck engines. And there is.
I probably should have just deleleted this thread, but if someone is going to put a 5.0 engine from an Explorer in their Mustang the have to use the firing order from a truck engine.

fail the explorer uses the 5.0l ho firing order, it is not a truck 5.0l

fact- scroll down past the 4l v6

I was gonna say, I thought gt40s, gt40ps, 5.0 HOs and 351Ws all had the same HO firing order, I too was confused.

the truck 5l and normal car 5l are the only ones with the 1542 firing order. all ho's use the 1372 firing order, same as the 351w. notch is correct the explorer is a ho.

Sounds like this owner got jewed with and old school shortblock, motor probably blew and was replaced with the first 5.0 that was laying around.

Is it a roller cam motor by any chance?

Yeah I was on the bullshit website earlier

No it doesn't, you don't know what your talking about. I spent part of my day today fucking around with the HO firing order trying to trouble shoot why my engine wasn't running. I switched to the truck firing order and 2 turns later, I was driving it down the street.

Do any of you actually have an Explorer engine?
Or do you just like arguing on the internet?

I did have one, notch had one. well he still has his he just switched the cam out with a tfs cam. I have done many explorer engine swaps in the past. they are basically 93-95 cobra engines. very little difference between the 2.

if your having problems with the ho firing order then you dont have a ho cam. fyi an explorer will not run with a non ho cam. so the chance of you having an explorer engine is looking pretty slim.

So that 1997 Explorer i bought and removed the engine from was a figment of my imagination?
I have an E cam in my engine, so unless something changed

find the casting number and take a picture. Ill bet its an E7T (1987 truck)
