what u-joints for FRPP aluminum driveshaft?

i need new u-joints for my ford racing driveshaft.

i called steve at tousley, he said they're on backorder from ford. said to call a parts store and say i need a 1330 u-joint. well napa says 1330 is a series of u-joints and i have to take it apart and measure it... i'd rather have the u-joints here before i take the car apart though.

does anyone know the specific number to replace these?

If you call Proven Force in Arden Hills and ask Rick for a 1330, he will know exactly what it is. 651-486-4888 (open M-F)

1330 is a Dana Spicer number, and they have actual Dana u-joints (best) or the cheaper Neapco joints as well.

It's a 253 precision for the heavy duty version and a 353 for the standard version. They should have the 353 on hand but I'd probably have them get you a 253 if your car launches hard at all. They might not have the 253 on hand.

I'm at home sick so I can't see what the difference between a 254 and a 253 is. It is likely it's something very minimal, if anything. Good Luck. Nick

253 is a 1310-1330 conversion U joint, 254 is a 1330 U joint. Same caps, but 253 is .4" shorter in width on one axis.

I did a little more research and that looks right. I have been at home sick the last 2 days and I used the on-line look-up. I like to look stuff up like this in the catalog. sorry for the mis-info. mnstang.

the 254 looks right you mean?

because 2 weeks ago, i got the 354 u-joints from carquest, which i think are the same dimensionally as the 254... and they didn't fit. the caps were the right size, but the cross was maybe .25" larger, so the clips wouldn't go in. but maybe there was something up with those parts..

Sorry man, I won't be much help without the catalog I have at work. I did a little hunting around online and it looks like S40monster is correct in the numbers he came up with but I can't confirm any dimensions without the catalog.

                        This^

I'm not going to badmouth any other brands but I've never had a problem with Spicer brand U-joints. They are the best in my opinion and I personally wouldn't use anything else in a performance vehicle.

I worked with Rick for a long time, he is hard of hearing but knows his stuff, 1330 spicer is the one your looking for. I would stay away from neapco when the super common spicer is always in stock!
