what damage are you talking about, looks like that gap is susposed to be there, and most for rear ends have that gap anyways
I find that hard to believe although I'd be happy to hear it's true. Doesn't seem smooth enough to be cast that way, and i can't see a reason to need a gap there. Although I didn't find the piece of metal that belongs there.
Looks like it was meant to be there to me.. Broken castings look a lot different than that.

Yeah, I got roughly the same opinions on the truck website I go to. People saying that theirs doesn't have the gap, but that it's just a casting flaw in an area that's not too important and not to worry. So that's what I'm going to do.
