    Is my differential garbage, PICS inside.

    Finally tore down the junkyard 14 bolt that I bought forever ago and found some damage inside. How big of a deal is this, repairable?

        what damage are you talking about, looks like that gap is susposed to be there, and most for rear ends have that gap anyways

          You can see casting flash in that gap. I'd say it's always been like that since new.

            I find that hard to believe although I'd be happy to hear it's true. Doesn't seem smooth enough to be cast that way, and i can't see a reason to need a gap there. Although I didn't find the piece of metal that belongs there.

                  The bearing doesn't even ride in there. I wouldn't worry about it.

                    Looks like it was meant to be there to me.. Broken castings look a lot different than that.

                      Yeah, I got roughly the same opinions on the truck website I go to. People saying that theirs doesn't have the gap, but that it's just a casting flaw in an area that's not too important and not to worry. So that's what I'm going to do.

                        That is an oil drain back galley, the housing is fine
