Looking for suggestions for new shocks and struts for my 02 GT. I was thinking about going with adjustables unless someone can give a good reason not to go that route. The car has Steeda sport springs, Steeda caster plates, Steeda front and rear sway bars, UPR upper and lower control arms and spherical bushings. This car is only driven on the streets. I have not been to a track. I am sure it is difficult to have the best of all worlds but I am loving the cornering ability since the new sway bars and control arms were installed but the ride is harsh. Is it possible to regain some ride comfort that I lost without giving up the aggressive handling that it has currenty? I would appreciate any input that anyone might have.
Shock/Strut suggestions.

For your application, there's really no point to adjustable struts and shocks. In fact, there's few situations where there's a point to adjustable shocks/struts.Originally posted by players02GT View PostAny thoughts on adjustables vs. non-adjustables shocks/struts for street driving?
You'll hear the suggestion to go with a H&R/Bilstein combo from anyone that actually knows what they are talking about regarding suspension. Since you are just street driving, I wouldn't worry about replacing springs (again) and just go with the Bilstein shocks/struts.
Again, if you absolutely have to have adjustable shocks/struts in your car, Konis would be a good alternative. I have a H&R/Koni combo in my car, and frankly I'd rather have Bilsteins, but the Konis work ok. Oh, and I believe the Bilsteins are cheaper.
Any other suggestions in this thread regarding suspension is likely just going to be whatever the person randomly chose and therefore must be good because it's in their car, even though you could swap their shocks/struts with 2x4s and they wouldn't notice the difference.
Edit: I'm going to add something here. If you are still using your factory shocks/struts, then replacing them will definitely be a good idea. After all, you've spent a bit of money to get your suspension to the point it is at. It would be kind of silly not to complete it for how cheap shocks/struts are. However, I'm not sure it's really going to address what your post was after, which is the ride quality. You've got polyurethane bushings, stiffer springs, etc. This stuff doesn't make for a cushy ride. There's not really going to be a way to make this stuff feel like a factory car. This is just the price you pay to get a Mustang handling halfway decent. Better shocks/struts will probably play nicer with your other suspension components and improve handling a bit, and might even improve road manners a bit, but don't expect miracles.Last edited by Stormwalker; 02-18-2010, 11:49 PM.Originally posted by NickThe choice is easy.

I know I will not have the ride that I had while stock. I have a rear shock that is leaking a little and figured it was time to finish the set up and figured if there is any way to soften the ride without removing the upgraded parts I would check.
Thank you all for your input. It is appreciated.
