    1990 Bronco - 351W swap...

I may be getting ahead of my self. I will know more in the next couple of days for sure.

    But...

    1990 Ford Bronco. 5.0/AOD Currently.

No plans to swap the trans.

I am looking at getting a Speed Density 5.8. I fully plan on Rod/Main Bearings. Full gasket kit.

Now, do i need a new ECM and Engine harness?
How about motor/frame mounts? Can i use the 5.0 ones?

Anything else any one can think of right away?

Wasn't the 351W available in Broncos? Why not sell yours and find one with the 5.8 in it already?

Because my Body is solid. It has light rust on the doors, and some on the lower tailgate. Fenders aren't even bubbling.

The entire front and rear suspension was replace before i bought it.

It would cost me 2-3x more than i paid for it, to replace it with something similar.

I should be able to come up with a decent 351w for 400 or less. Complete.
      Add $100 on gasket/bearing kits.

I have Cash sitting here. And i believe i have a 302 that's locked up.

SD 5.0 harness should be exactly the same as a 5.8, just bigger injectors. I could be wrong though. Funny thing is, I have everything you need.... but im using it for my bronco

Speed density? FAIL. This is a mustang board - get your 351 and put the top end of a Mustang EFI on it...

                This should help clear things...

                  I don't need it

IF i were to go that route, it would end up with a GT40 upper/lower.

All it has to do is run. Drive. Tow shit.

the 302 can do it in stock trim
the 351 can do it better in stock trim.

IF i were to do it right... It would end up with head cam and intake as well. It still might .

Like i said. I may be getting ahead of myself. Tonight or Tomorrow night i should know 100%

I have some heads, cam, and pushrods I don't think I'll be using... 351 stuff. The cam is a Clevite 229-1775

I really dont think its worth the $$ and hassle.

You will also need the exhaust setup (y-pipe) and the manifolds from a similar era 5.8 truck.

Like others mentioned, ECM, Injectors, possible wiring (check the diagrams to see if any difference).

Put a 460 in it here:

                        Or heres a complete 5.8 w/trans & t-case:

Or just buy a whole truck for all the little pieces you need:

Seems like its turning into a project truck Sucks when you just want to drive it.

I'd just throw a good running 302 in it, drive it a bit more then UPGRADE

I thought about the 460... But too much work lol.

I did not see that 351 from Rochestor. I will be giving him a call.

Wonder if he has the ecu...

I would think i should be able to use the same ecu...

whats the difference in the Electronic ignition and Ignition Cont. listing in Car Part?

also, none of these show a 5.8 with an E40D Engine Computer.

I just checked Car Part and saw that as well. I dont know what Ign Control is.

I did find more listings for the E4OD trans by looking up the engine computer for the F150 vs Bronco. Maybe they didn't put many 5.8 E4OD combos in the Bronco? I remember a friend having a 5.8 Bronco, but it had a C6 in it and it was either an 89 or 90. Did they maybe have a seperate trans control computer on the early trucks?
