    Dead NiCd battery ''fix''?

Does anyone know what this is all about? I have no intention of 'buying now'.

I would not count on it. You may be able to shock the batteries and they will seem to hold a charge, but I'm sure they wont last long and you would have to do the treatment again.

This is just my thought, not really sure.

It's a simple technique. Don't pay the fee for it. All you have to do is shock the battery with a nice high amperage higher voltage source. Check the battery voltage, once it's around or slightly higher than normal charge as usual and you're good to go.
      god damned tinypic.

When I was a kid I had built a circuit from an old camera flash. I'd let the cap charge up as normal, then with the wires I added right off the cap I'd tap it to the Nicd. IIRC it's a 300V cap. I'd do that 2-3 times then the old battery seemed to come back to life and take a charge again.

Heard of it before (in a lot of R/C mags or websites) as well but never done it.

I've also seen the individual cells for sale but I'm not sure how to hook them up together since solder doesn't seem to work. It would save a lot of money instead of buying specific recharge packs for tools and such.

Yes! Have tried with good results. Mostly on stuff that has been replaced by newer stuff so I cant tell you how long they last

                      Safe? Time to man up!
Let me help you. Run to the store and get a male cord plug. You only need to hook up one wire to the "hot". Connect that to your Crown Vic hub cap. Put your battery in the cap, plug it in, and jump in the shower. You and the battery will get a recharge. Thank me later.

I was thinking about this and I seem to remember that the nicads tend to retain a memory charge especially if they're not kept charged all the way. IIRC, they're supposed to be completely used up and then fully charged or they would tend to hold a lower voltage unless they were shocked back to their normal range. It was the way that they were used that had something to do with it IIRC.
