How hard would it be to put the Ford racing 514 into a 2000 GT? Anyone ever done it, any suggestions? Right now it is just a contemplation and not really serious, just looking at possible engine/FI applications. thanks

I am sure it wouldnt be the easiest thing, engine mounts, tranny, driveshaft, engine management, cowl hood, etc. But still interested

I would think there are many better choices out there like:
-a high comp. Dart based 351 stroker bored and stroked to something like 462 ci

-Or just get a built stock block with descent internals and get a turbo or a big blower. Might not be the cheapest, but it would be more streetable and probably a hell of a lot faster.

              351 stroked to a 462? holy damn. I have heard of a 428, but not a 462.

I know it would be bored and stroked, but the biggest stroker I have found for a 351 was to get it to a 428. That was with having it bored to .0060 over. I think I have it in the right place should be 60 thousandths (sp?) I would think that at 462 the cylindar walls would be too thin or the stroke would be too long. I'm only asking cause I want to learn more about this.

428 is the biggest you can go in a stock production block.....

if you go aluminuim dart blocks they can go much much bigger, bigger bore....

Prepare to either modify your K member, or build a custom tubular unit. I have the feeling it would fit, but from the dimensions listed, it appears to be larger than a 5.4 DOHC, so you may have to do some cutting.... I would sugest taking measurements between your shock towers first though.

Actually, I though it was a little narrower than a DOHC Mod?

                            According to Ford:

                            460 = 32L X 26H X 26 W

                            SOHC 4.6 = 28L X 26H X 28 5/8W
                            DOHC 4.6 = 28L X 29 7/8H X 30W

SO.... a 4.6 dohc is 4 inches WIDER than a 460, and almost 4 inches TALLER, but 4 inches shorter.
So much for the small motor theory...

Right from the website you linked:
                              "Dimensions: 38.75H x 36.50W x 36.00D "

So those must be wrong...perhaps the size of the crate?
I thought the 5.4 was wider, but wasn't exactly sure. Keep in mind, the 5.4DOHC motor is wider due to having a taller deck height. Also, are those dimensions you listed including things like the water pump and such sticking out?

It will be a fun project that is for sure. I think you can make it work with little effort. It's just a mater of wiring it up and getting all your OEM stuff to work correctly that will take the most time. I'm in the middle of swapping a carburated motor in my formerly TBI 305 powered truck.
