Spark Plug Boot Popping off of plug?

    1998 CSVT
    2004 3l Taurus DOHC Motor

    What would cause this?

This is the 2nd Set of wires to do so.

    1st Setup

    Taylor Thundervolt 8.2MM Wires. APP104's

    2nd Setup

    Ford OEM 8MM Wires APP104's.

In each case, both plugs and wires were replaced at the same time.

Each time, the same cylinder boot plug is popping off. (#4)

I Pulled the end through the plug, and closed it up a bit and pulled it back through hoping that will fix it.

However, I was wondering if any one had any legitimate ideas on why this cylinder would be doing this.

Just unlucky on the same plug wire between 2 sets????

Don't know what's causing it, but if you get desperate you can try tie wraps. I've seen it done before. It should take some force to pull them off IMO. Could try Scott or Magnacore wires.

Is there a plug well seal that is bad causing the plug well to pressurize?

Bend your contact in with a pliers and zip-tie the wire before the boot if possible? No idea why this would be happening. I would make it stop and not worry about it.

              THanks for the ideas.

I know i did not use Dielectric grease when installing (Just didint have any).
I will pick some up and hit up the front bank of cylinders with it.

I dont think it has popped off yet but i may try the zip tie at the top of the boot to keep it from moving off.

Leaky valve cover gasket causing crankcase pressure to push the plug boot up?

I dont think so. No oil in the Plug hole.

Also, It seemed to be popping with the cylinder fire.

You should always take your boots off so you don't get mud on the carpet.

                              Good point.

Joe: If the plug isn't loose, and doesn't have any sort of plow by through the plug itself or the head... Make it stop and call it good.
