I need to get the distributor into a 98 Tahoe. I know I need to get the compression stroke on #1. But there are not any timing marks I can see near the balancer. There is a mark on the balancer though. It is also I bitch to do alone. Fawk

To find #1 to top dead center just pull the plug and stick a piece of wire down the plug hole and turn the crank until it reaches its highest point or keep repositioning the dizzy until it fires and then set your base timing or pull a valve cover (easy enough on a 5.7) and use valve overlap to find TDC #1.

Every one of your responses are bullshit. I did mark it and it looked right putting it in. But now it's all fucked up. I figured out that the timing mark is supposed to be at 12 oclock and the pointer needs to point at a mark in the dizzy when it is right.
