So I lost a frost plug.

On a 350 chevy I knocked a frost plug into the water jacket. Any ideas about this? It's a 98 Tahoe

you should be able to pull it out with a needle nose.. If you have room to get the pliers close to it.

Are you saying you knocked it in and can,t find it? Many factory plugs are steel so a magnet could be possible, but I don't know on those. Can you get your hand in there. Sideways you can often pull them out with little effort. It can't get any where to damage any thing but could restrict flow if it ended up in the wrong spot. If you are a plumber you may want to try a snake or plunger..just pretend its a stubborn turd.

It fell beyond what I could reach or touch with fingers. They looked brass to me and it would take a very flat magnet to get in there. So it is staying in there permanent.

Sorry, I was negating all of the previous suggestions in one post.

Ask Stormwalker about the time he was filing his valve covers down to fit the roller rockers and forgot to dump the shavings out and dumped them onto the head and wanted a magnet to pick up the shavings. So I borrowed him my aluminum magnet lol.

Stainless steel does not stick to magnets which surprises me.
