figured i'd try here, since you folks are pretty knowledgeable and i'm not sure where else to turn. i've got a 1960 falcon 2 door wagon with a 351W in it. it's really fun as it is, but it would be perfect with a straight axle in it. i know people use econoline or falcon van front ends because they are straight axles, but i cant really find anything else about the swap. anyone know what else is needed for the swap, or whats involved in it? thanks in advance
ford falcon straight axle?

The old Econoline front ends are ok. They are heavy and you end up buying custom brakes stuff so you wont save anything over a fabbed straight axle. At least that's what I found on the Fairlane.
Don't ask, it's a midlife crises thing.

we might run into a problem there. Are you ok with taking a loss?
Oh we were talking about my sole and not my liver. . . . . . . ahh fuck neither one is worth a damn thing. I sold my sole to the devil along time ago so I guess I would be a bit of an indian giver.

Straight front axles. There is not a lot of experience with them on here.Originally posted by 93NotchLX View PostAfter that pic was posted I forgot what this thread was about.

Mustang II is a much better option if you really want to drive the car on the street. My Fairlane is not much of a corner cutter, but if you want the look you can't beat it.Originally posted by 64fairlane View Posti vote mustang II front suspensionDon't ask, it's a midlife crises thing.

right now it's a mixture of 65 mustang and 64 1/2 comet caliente. it's never really been a corner cutter. it gets mild street use. we really just want the look. plus its cheaper than a mustang II front end and price is definately a concern. also it'll get rid of the shock towers and i wont have to unbolt and move the headers to change plugs. i already have an engine bay with the shock towers cut out from a 60 falcon set up for a 409 and straight axle. i could have got the axle 10 years ago when i got the bay, but i couldn't afford it. now i can get an ecomiline front end with everything but the hubs. like down to tie rod ends and steering linkage for 150 bucks. the fairlane is pretty close to the falcon.. what did you have to do?
