the shims slipped out of my 8.8! (pics)

the shims came out from under the main cap on the driver side.
they stayed in place obviously but it was enough that the rear end started making noise so i pulled it apart asap.
    its got 4:10 gears
would a stud girdle help prevent this?
can i get a few thick shims instead of all of these little ones that come with the gears?
has any one else had this problem?
or is this just fricken wierd?
    AOD FOR LIFE!

THANK YOU to those that serve our country

I am willing to bet the shims were not thick enough, and the carrier was walking.

      This,

Or I have seen this before with the non-locking stackable shims. There is a company that I can try and find the name of that sells interlocking stackable shims. (One shim has a ridge on it, that the other shims sit around keeping them in place).
I send myself PM's so I roll with a full inbox! Sweet35th style!

Those are definetly not the correct shims in the picture. You must you the ford style one piece shims or the locking shim pack. I always using the locking pack as its the only way to go unless you a grand in solid shim stock.

Hooze 4x4 in Ham Lake has the locking packs.
