    Speaker wiring diagram for 83.

I'm trying to put the radio wiring back to stock on my 83, previous owners did a good hack job and cut a lot of wires.

Right now the problem is the rear speakers (pink/green wires). The wires are cut some where between the speakers and dash.

Was there any factory amps use in 83?

I cant find the speaker wiring diagram in the internetz for 83-84.

Right on. But if the rear wires wires are not at the dash then you will have to either splice then somewhere or run new ones. Just run the new ones where the old ones were. Only takes an hour to remove some panels and do it right.

I'm not sure about the 83 but on my 1990 there were 2 sets of plugs in at the dash. Only one set went to the speakers.

The plug for the speakers (or at least a plug with four of the same color wires) is still at the dash. New speakers are installed at the rear, using the factory wiring. But when I send power to the dash plug, it does'nt make it to the speakers.
So, I dont know if there is a plug in between maybe for a factoy amp or somthing.

I'd like to knew if the color of wires get changed from front to back.

I don't think the color changes.

Look behind the kick panels for the wires. They go there before the wrapped harness that heads to the trunk of the car.

                I found this:
1983 Ford Mustang Car Radio Installation Guide

Car Radio Battery Constant 12v+ Wire: Light Green/Green
Car Radio Accessory Switched 12v+ Wire: Yellow/Black
                Car Radio Ground Wire: Chassis
                Car Radio Illumination Wire: Blue/Brown
                Car Stereo Dimmer Wire: N/A
Car Stereo Antenna Trigger Wire: Orange/Blue
Car Stereo Amp Trigger Wire: N/A
                Car Stereo Amplifier Location: N/A
Car Audio Front Speakers Size: 3 1/2″
Car Audio Front Speakers Location: Dash
Left Front Speaker Positive Wire (+): Green
Left Front Speaker Negative Wire (-): Black/White
Right Front Speaker Positive Wire (+): White/Red
Right Front Speaker Negative Wire (-): Black/White
Car Audio Rear Speakers Size: 6″ x 9″
Car Audio Rear Speakers Location: Rear Deck
Left Rear Speaker Positive Wire (+): Pink/Red
Left Rear Speaker Negative Wire (-): Pink/Blue
Right Rear Speaker Positive Wire (+): Pink/Blue
Right Rear Speaker Negative Wire (-): Green/Red

So, yes indeed the color stay's the same.
Time to pull panels and see what's up.

                  That drawing show's an amp.
And my dash does say "premium sound".

Ok, now where is the amp hidden?

                      Found the problem!
Harness was cut right at the drivers side kick panel. Connected it back up and works.
                      Thanks for the tips!

There's nothen I hate more then a hack wiring job. I dont even like to buy or try to repair car's that have fucking wire nut's and lamp cords running and hanging all over the place.
Now, all the wiring is the way it left the factoy, clean and mathes all the OEM wiring drawings. The only thing different now is, I had to split the front speaker ground wires about 5 inches from the radio harness so it would work with a aftermarket deck.

All the stock wiring was still there, just needed to be hooked back up and old slop job pulled out.

i understand, but why did it have to be STOCK why not pull the old wire out and install new wire, YOUR way, cause then you know its right and if its not, its only your fault lol, JMO
