    frustrated with hoodscoop.

so i got my hood scoop, it comes in red. So my plan was to just spray paint it black... i sanded down the red paint, down to 600 grit sand paper...

i then spray painted 3 coats of primer on. looked fine.

then sanded down again to 600 grit, began putting the black gloss on, & after 2 coats it looks all blotchy. Does anyone know my next step too make this shine?

I do have a finish coat too, but i don't plan on putting that on til it looks rite.

Do i just use the 600 grit sand paper and sand it down & spray it again?
or do i have to sand the whole damn thing down and start all over again?

thanks for the help ahead of time & im sure i should of just brought it in...

Is it warm out when you paint it? Should be atleast 70 degrees out.

No, but new paint can be really touchy to fumes, from gear lube and gas and such. Usually causes fish eyes though, not blotches. Blotches just sounds like you cant paint...

Tell you what, i used to have troubles painting my exhaust pipes for my snowmobile, the first coat would do about the same as whats happening to you, so a friend of mine told me to sand the paint off, and then on the first coat, just put a light dusting of paint on, not enough for a full layer. So i did that, and then let it dry, then put another coat on, and success. Maybe try that route.

ok, that is what i exactly did... I was afraid of getting any type of runs at all, so on my first coat, i could even see the primmer... it wasn't heavy enough at all... so i then wait 2 hours... i think that was long enough and the next coat looked blotchy... maybe i put the 2nd coat on too much... im not sure, i can sand down the paint and try again... Thanks.

After a finish sand on the primer, did you do any sort or prep all or cleaner to pull any contaminates and dust off?
