    T-5 to a T-56

    I have a 1990 GT with a crap stock T5 transmission with over 170K on it and I want to swap it with a T56. Can anybody tell me what all I will need to swap out to get it to fit. Here is a list of things I thought could possibly have to be changed:
    Bell housing, driveshaft, tunnel, cross member, clutch, shifter location, clutch pedal cable
    Please send me any other ideas or if I'm thinking too many things have to be changed correct me. Thanks

      Not at all. It's a built 302 on nitrous and 3:90 gears.

        ... Thats all i can say.... Jmho im gonna say you might want to get 4.56's... That first gear in a t56 is a tall one... And watch out for reverse... It tends to sneak up on the unsuspecting t5 driver at 127mph...

            i knew where reverse was too... Right up till when i put it in reverse... and dont forget the 03 cobra has a lock out.... Some conversions dont always have one...

                My T56 has 2.97 first gear and also lockout for reverse, I run 4.10 gears in my car and had to shift quick with low gears. Buy mine and you have eveything you need. Thanks kineda for posting link. sellers fees maybe

                    you don't have to mess with the tunnel.

                    and just a FYI 6 gears is too many.

                    1st is too high and some of the other gears are too close together no matter what rear gears you have.
