Help with Fuel line conversion... hard to braided

    1986 GT 5.0

Okay. So my plan is i'm cutting the stock fuel lines right underneath the passenger side floor pan. I'm running aeromotive fuel rails and i want to run stainless steel braided line into the engine bay. So what i'm trying to do is figure out which fittings i need to do it. I've never messed with fittings or fuel lines before so thats why i'm askin for some help. So to recap, i'm going from the stock hard line and i'm trying to connect it to a S.S braided line.

Also, i'm trying to figure out what size lines i'm going to need in the s.s braided hose. Also, guessitimate to the length i'll need? It'll have to run up fron the passenger floor into the engine bay. To the y-block/rails etc...

    Any of these?

    Thanks!

P.S. I thought about just running S.S braided to the tank. But i don't know how you would hook up stainless steel braided line to the sending unit and then i also can't run the stock fuel filter... Which i guess isn't a big deal. But i couldn't figure out how you would hook it up to the sending unit..

I would guess you would have to flare the hard line and then use a flare to AN fitting. Just a guess.

Go out and measure what size your fuel line is and buy the appropriate fittings.

How much power are you gonna make? You could just buy the russel fittings that connect the factory soft lines to the factory rails (to the rail extensions down low) and run the braided line from there. The russel fittings are only like $14.95 each.

Not to helpful but someone (i think like bbk or something) makes a adaptor that you hook your intank to and has AN fittings on it Iam almost positive I saw one in summit. But if your making big power maybe think about a sumped tank and that type of set up

This is what I did with my car.. Use the russel fittings Rus-640870 and Rus-640880 than run -an- fittings and braided hose to rails.
I think -an- fittings are a 37 degree so you cant just double flare the factory hard line...

why dont you leave the hard lines and just use braided line its what i did... you need 3.5" (feet) of 5 1/16ths line to use with all the stock lines and you can get REALLY good hose clamps from winzer(a sponsor of the forum just tell them you need porsche clamps)
my entire car is done up with them and will use nothing else...

just my .02 cutting the stock fuel lines not to good an idea then you get metal shavings EVERYWHERE even places you cant get to/

srsly, what is the fucking point of running 5/16th braided line? that is just fucking retarded.

thats the stock fuel line size????? thats what he was wondering so .... and stock rails handle more power than the block can so....

What is the point of doing this? So you can put some pretty looking fuel rails on? If you are willing to go through all this hassel and destroy your stock fuel lines why not just run braided line the whole way up from the tank?
