    Converting tire size to inches?

I am trying to figure out how to convert a 245/55-18 to inches?

I know the width would be 9.64" but how do I figure out height?

Ford Ranger T6 & 46-Inch Tires has a solid axle swap and is riding on Mickey Thompson Baja Claw 19.5 / 46-20LT tires on USA 20-inch wheels

(Width x sidewall) x 2= sidewall height in mm

convert sidewall hight to inches (25.4mm = 1 inch)

      add to rim diameter

      (245 x .55)2 = 269.5
      269.5/25.4 = 10.61
      10.61 + 18 = 28.61 inches tall

I would not trust the size calculations, its gonna change dept on brand. best bet go to the brand website and see their specs
          11.0 w 550 whp > 11.0 w 1100 whp VW

#'s dont always jive, I understand how the sizing system is supposed to work

IE: my 315 30 18 on the back of the vette would have a 4 in side wall if that was the case and they are more like 3 in or less.

              315 mm = 12.4 in / 30 series or approx 1/3 would be about 4 in. sidewall

Got it all on google so no math deg needed

Me I would take said tire put a ruler sticking straight out across the tread and take a tape measure and measure the height. 29 inches is 29 inches. width 9.64 inches looks like 10 inches to me. Tire can only be so wide and so tall. Lets see if we can over think it some more

Dan is right, tires are like clothes. Every manufacturers size is not the same. A 315 nitto is as wide as a 275 bfg. Just for comparison purposes. but usually they are pretty close.
